The penalties for speeding or for other traffic violation in Tennessee can be quite stiff. They can include a heavy fine, a driver’s license suspension, and/or a court hearing, depending on the status of your driving record. You must also respond by the court deadline, or you’ll face additional penalties. Failure to respond will cause the violation to appear on your driving record, and Tennessee Department of Safety (TDOS) points may also be added. However, you also have the option of completing a Tennessee driver education course to dismiss your ticket.
What Is a Tennessee Driver Education Course?
Ticket School offers a TDOS approved online driver education course (aka Tennessee Traffic School) as a form of ticket dismissal. The course is delivered completely online and totals four hours. It’s different from the eight-hour Tennessee defensive driving course. Rather than reducing or avoiding license suspension, the driver education course is for anyone who has committed a traffic violation and who has been referred to a city or county court.
You have online access to the course 24 hours a day, 7 days a week after enrolling. The course content can be accessed via any internet enabled device including a desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. Your comprehension is tested with individual quizzes at the end of each unit.
You can expect to view videos, engaging graphics, and interactive animations during the course. It offers a learning opportunity for you, especially if you prefer a course that isn’t 100% text. You can also move at your own pace. You can log in and out of the course as needed. The course automatically saves your progress so it can pick up where you last left it. The course content is 4 hours in length as required by the Department of Safety. The only restriction is that you complete it within 180 days of registration.
How Do I Get Started?
When registering for the Tennessee online driver’s education course, follow all the steps on our website. You’ll need to first specify the reason for taking the course; for example, you can indicate it has been court ordered. Enter other information the registration system prompts you to do, and answer the security questions that will appear randomly during the online course. Answering these questions correctly is important, as they are there to verify your identity; you’ll be disqualified if you miss three of them.
How Do I Complete the Online Course
There are only short multiple-choice quizzes at the end of each unit and and no final exam. To advance to the next unit, you must score at least 70% on the quiz. New questions appear with each attempt. You can go back and review the material before taking each quiz. If you successfully complete the online driver education course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion in PDF format. This is to be turned in at the court handling the ticket. The certificate must be delivered prior to the due date issued to you by the court.
