About the Driver Improvement Course

UPDATE: The Virginia DMV recently updated their rules to allow drivers of all ages (not just drivers 20 years old and older) to take Virginia Driver Improvement courses online!  The DMV also removed the in-person final exam requirement, allowing for the test at the end of the course to be online just like the course itself and for electronic downloadable certificates.

Our online Virginia driver improvement course is aimed at helping Virginia drivers of any age with court / DMV requirements for tickets, safe driver points, and / or insurance discounts. By state rule, the course is eight hours in length, but you have the ability to log in and out as your schedule allows. The course is available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any location with Internet access, and from any device (PC, laptop, tablet, or smart phone). The course is 8 units and has a multiple choice final exam.  The DMV requires a score of 80% or better on the final exam to successfully complete the course.  You get unlimited attempts to pass, should they be needed.  An electronic certificate will be processed and available to you for download and printing immediately after passing the final exam. All course completions are also reported electronically to the Virginia DMV on the business day following your course completion.

You can take the Virginia driver improvement course for any of the following reasons:

Court – You may have chosen or been required by a judge or court to take a driver improvement program for a ticket that you received.

DMV Ordered – The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles may require you to complete a course to have your license reinstated.

Safe Driver Points – The option exists for drivers to voluntarily take a state approved course to have five safe driver points applied to their driving record. This can be done once every 24 months.

Insurance Discount – Many auto insurance providers offer discounts for taking a driver improvement course. If you voluntarily take a course for insurance discount, then no safe driver points will be applied to your driving record.

“What an awesome program. It was so helpful and I learned so much that I know I will be a safer driver than other people who do not go here!”
