Yes. Our company is licensed and approved by the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) to offer our Basic Driver Improvement course (BDIC) to drivers in Michigan who have a ticket and have been notified via letter that they are eligible to avoid points and prevent any notifications to their insurance company. Some courts may also allow drivers to dismiss a ticket by completing an SOS-approved BDIC. State approval is very important, since only state-approved providers can report your completion into the Michigan SOS system so that you get the proper benefits.

Length: 4 hours

Course Units: 6

As a state-approved Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDIC), our course must follow the regulations set by the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS). These requirements are as follows:

Content Verification: We test your knowledge of the course material using end of unit quizzes. At the conclusion of each unit, you are required to pass a short five-question multiple-choice quiz. You must score a 75% or better to pass. There is no final exam, and you get unlimited attempts to pass each quiz.

Identity Verification: The state requires that we make sure that the person taking the course is the same person who created the account. We do this by requiring you to answer ten ID questions during the course registration process. At random points during the course, we will ask you one of your ID questions and your answer must match the answer you gave during registration. If you incorrectly answer more than 30% of the ID questions, your account will be disqualified, and you must start a new course from the beginning. Should this occur, the new course will be free of charge.

Electronic Completion Certificate (PDF): A PDF copy is available as an optional upgrade if needed.

IMPORTANT: Your course fee includes free reporting of your course completion to the Michigan Secretary of State. Since this reporting is done electronically, no certificate is issued when you complete the course; however, if you would like a certificate for your records, or if you need a copy to turn in to a court, we offer a PDF certificate as an option for you to purchase during registration or at the end of the course.

Reporting to Michigan Secretary of State (SOS): We report all eligible course completions to the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) electronically. If you have a ticket, you are eligible for BDIC to keep the points off your record, you must complete the course before the deadline date provided by the SOS to receive the benefits. We report all completions to the state within one business day. Weekend or holiday completions will be reported on the next business day.

State Approved - Our course is licensed and approved by the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS). Why is that important? Only state-approved sponsors / providers have access to the state system to report your completion so that you get the benefits your are eligible for.

Some Michigan courts may give drivers the option to complete a MI Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDIC) to cancel or dismiss a ticket before it would be reported to the Secretary of State. If a court has given you this option, then you will need to choose the option to receive a completion certificate when registering so that you can turn it in to the court before their deadline. IMPORTANT: Please consult with the court handling your ticket to determine if this is an option for you before registering.

Some insurance companies may give discounts for completing a basic driver improvement course. Discount eligibility varies by state and course, so we would encourage you to contact your insurance company prior to registration if this is your sole reason for course participation.

We aren’t happy unless you are happy with your course experience. For that reason, we offer a full 30-day money back guarantee. Please note: Customers who have successfully completed the course (whether reported to the state or not) and those who were disqualified from the course due to failed identity verification questions are ineligible for a refund.
