Florida, like every other state, has numerous rules and requirements to meet before any license to drive will be issued. The process can seem overwhelming for some and that’s why we are here. There are basically three steps in the process.  The first step is to learn the basic rules of the road as well as signs, signals, and markings. This knowledge is typically learned by taking a Driver Education course either at high school or through a commercial business.  Some choose to study the Florida driver’s handbook.  The driver education schools also typically offer behind the wheel training to make sure you are ready and can apply what you have learned on the actual road as well.  The second step in the process is to complete a Florida drug and alcohol course (also known as TLSAE, which stands for Traffic Law Substance Abuse Education).  The last step in the process is to pass the Florida driver license exam (sometimes referred to as the Florida learner’s permit test. At TicketSchool we offer both the drug and alcohol course and the driver license exam portions of the process.

The Basics

Whether you choose to go to a driver education school to learn the rules of the road and prepare yourself for the Driver License exam first or you decide to study the Drivers handbook on your own, it is up to you.   Obviously you will need to make sure you are fully prepared to pass the driver license exam, but you can take the drug and alcohol course at anytime as long as it is before you apply for you new license.  The driver license exam can be taken in person at the driver license office if you prefer, but the test we offer on Ticketschool will allow you to take the test in a more stress free environment and if you pass will be one less thing to do at the DL office.

Applications, Tests, and TLSAE Courses

Whether you are a natural born citizen or an immigrant, a first-time driver, or from out of state, an online resource like Ticket School is here to help. Our 100% online drug and alcohol course is approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)—which means that it covers the mandatory curriculum to be approved as a Traffic Law Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course for use by those wanting to get their first drivers license.

The Ticket School courses are 100% online, and offers the following benefits:

  • 24 / 7 course availability online
  • Broad compatibility with mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and Android)
  • HD Quality Videos
  • Money Back Guarantee

Note: The online driver license exam, like the drug and alcohol course is available anytime day or night, but once you load the exam it must be completed to a result (pass or fail).  You cannot start the test and then come back later.

Ticket School’s TLSAE is fully state-certified by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV / DMV) as satisfying the legal requirement placed on drivers in the state.

“The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles must approve traffic law and substance abuse education courses that must be completed by applicants for a Florida driver’s license. The curricula for the courses must provide instruction on the physiological and psychological consequences of the abuse of alcohol and other drugs, the societal and economic costs of alcohol and drug abuse, the effects of alcohol and drug abuse on the driver of a motor vehicle, and the laws of this state relating to the operation of a motor vehicle. All instructors teaching the courses shall be certified by the department.” (F.S., §322.095(1))

Benefits

Ticket School’s TLSAE is available on a variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, and any other internet-connected device. The course is self-paced, so you can proceed when and as fast as you like. The course includes high-quality video content, animations, and interactive quizzes for better information retention.

The course is composed of ten units in which you’ll learn:

  • The causes and types of crashes and how to avoid them
  • Several common drug and alcohol myths
  • Facts about drugs, alcohol, and driving, including alternatives to intoxicated driving
  • The legal consequences of choosing to risk driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol

To pass the course, you must pass the final exam—but you have opportunities to retake the exam multiple times if needed. Ticket School then automatically reports your satisfactory completion to the DHSMV for your application to be completed at your convenience.
