Do I Need to Get an Instructional Permit?

Illinois does not require you to get an instructional permit if you are 18 or older. However, the state encourages drivers to get their instructional permit and get at least 50 hours of behind the wheel experience.  You will also have to complete a vision, written, and driving test at the driver’s license facility.

What Tests Will I Take at the Illinois Secretary of State Drivers Facility?

You will need to complete a written test, vision test, and driving test and pass each one to obtain your driver’s license. The written test will be similar to the final exam in our Illinois Adult Driver Education Course.

When Will I Receive Proof that I Passed the Online Course?

We will send your course completion notification to the Illinois Secretary of State. They will then process that completion and email a certificate of completion to you.  You will then confirm the information you used to register for our online course and if correct will generate your certificate which you can take with you when you go to the Driver License office.
