Can this course be taken on a mobile device?

Yes. This course is “mobile friendly,” meaning that it can be taken on nearly any tablet, smartphone, or other type of mobile device that contains an Internet browser, as well as any desktop or laptop computer. The course is compatible with most Microsoft, Apple, and Android operating systems. For laptop or desktop users, we recommend using the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox browser (Mac or PC) or Internet Explorer browser (32-bit, PC only). For users of smartphones, tablets, or other devices, we recommend using the browser that comes installed with your device. The browser should be configured to support javascript and cookies should be enabled.

Does the course have to be completed in one sitting?

No. You can log in and out of the course as many times as you wish. It is available 24 / 7 from any location with Internet access. Your course progress is stored whenever you log out, so you do not have to worry about losing any course work. You can spend hours, days, or even weeks on the course, but please keep in mind that your certificate will need to be turned in to the appropriate authority by a certain date. You must complete the course within 180 days from your date of registration. After 180 days, your course access will be suspended.

How long is the course?

Per Virginia DMV requirements, the course requires a minimum of eight hours to complete. Page timers are used to ensure that each student spends the required amount of time in the course. Please note that some students digest information more quickly than others, so we appreciate your patience if you reach the end of a page before the timer has expired.

You can log in and out as many times as you need, and we keep track of your progress so you never lose any of your work. You must complete the course within 180 days from your date of registration. After 180 days, your course access will be suspended.

Do you offer express shipping of the certificate?

Yes. We offer numerous upgraded certificate delivery options that can be chosen during your initial course registration or immediately following completion. The upgrade option that is the fastest is the electronic (e-mail) delivery. That option will expedite the processing of your certificate so that you can immediately download and print it following your successful course completion. For situations where an emailed certificate isn’t acceptable, we offer 2 business day, Standard Overnight (End of Day), and Priority Overnight (typically before 12 noon) shipping options. Certificates for users that do not choose the email option are processed each business day (Monday – Friday, excluding holidays) at 3PM EST. If you complete after 3PM on a weekday, on a weekend, or a holiday, your certificate will be processed and sent out the next business day. Emailed certificates are processed anytime (24 hours – 7 days a week).

How much does the course cost?

The course price is $34.95, unless you select an upgraded certificate delivery option.

I’m not sure of the reason I need to take the course.

Most of our customers need to take this course to satisfy a requirement of a Virginia court or the DMV. If this is the case, your paperwork from the court or DMV should tell you whether or not you are to receive demerit points when you attend the course. Other reasons for attendance include voluntary attendance for insurance discount or safe driver points. Do you report my completion to the court / DMV?

We DO report all student completions electronically to the Virginia DMV on the business day following your course completion. We DO NOT report completions to the court. We will send your original certificate of completion to you via the delivery method of your choosing (regular mail, email, or express) and it is your responsibility to turn in your certificate of completion to the court or other proper authority. We also recommend that you make a copy of your certificate for your records before you turn it in.

When will I get my certificate of completion?

It depends on the delivery method you choose. As part of your regular course fee your certificate will be sent to you via regular US Mail and will typically be received within 5-7 business days from the date of completion. If you need your certifiate faster than that, we offer a variety of upgraded delivery options including (electronic (e-mail), 2 business day, standard overnight(end of day), and priority overnight (AM delivery). If you choose the electronic certificate upgrade option your certificate will be available for download and printing immediately after you pass the final exam anytime (24 hours – 7 days a week). All non-electronic certificates are processed at 3PM EST on each business day (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays). So if you complete the course after 3PM EST on a weekday, on a weekend, or a holiday your certifiate will be processed and sent out to you via your chosen shipping method on the following business day. Do I have to attend this course in the county where my ticket was issued?

No. There are no restrictions on where you can take the online course.

Is this course DMV / court approved?

Yes. This 8-hour online Virginia driver improvement clinic is fully approved by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and is accepted by all Virginia courts.

Is there a final exam, and if so, what score that is required to pass?

Before you can complete the course you are required to pass a final exam by achieving at least an 80% on the 50-question final exam. (You are not allowed to miss more than ten questions.) If you are a Virginia resident, you are required to take the exam in-person at one of our approved testing centers. If you fail the in-person exam, you will not be able to attempt it again until the next business day. Most customers pass on their first attempt. If you are not a Virginia resident the in-person requirement is waived and you will be given an exam online at the conclusion of the course, with the same score requirement.

What is your refund policy?

To request a refund, you must contact customer support at 1-800-222-9199 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Refund requests must be made within 90 days from the date of registration. If you successfully complete the course or are disqualified from the course for identity validation or final exam failure, you will not be eligible for a refund.

Is the course all reading?

No, unlike most Virginia online driver improvement clinics, our course also uses video and interactive Flash animations to keep you interested in the material. Our students prefer this learning style to courses that are 100% reading!

I lost my login code. How can I get it back?

If you lose your login code, go to the course login page. You will see a box that says “I forgot my login.” Enter the email address associated with your lost login code and click the “Submit” button. The login code will be sent to you. If you are unable to retrieve your login code, please call customer support for assistance.

Why do I have to answer security questions?

During registration, you will be required to answer a number of security questions (e.g. “Have you ever been to Europe?”). You will be asked the same questions again at random points in the course, and you will be required to respond correctly within a certain time. These questions are required by the Virginia DMV to verify that the person taking the course is the same person who signed up for the course. If you miss three security questions, you will be disqualified from the course and prompted to contact us for further instructions.

Is the course completely online?

While the eight hours of course content are all online, if you are a Virginia resident you must drive to an approved Virginia testing center to take the course final exam in person at one of our many approved locations.
