Is this test state approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)?

Yes. Our company (Driver Training Associates, Inc. d.b.a. Ticketschool.com) is authorized and licensed by the Florida DHSMV as a third-party administrator of the Florida online learners permit test. The test may also be referred to as the following:  “driver license test”, “road signs and road rules test”, “learner’s license test” or “knowledge test”.

What are the eligibility requirements for the online Florida Driver License Exam?

To be eligible to take the driver license exam online, you must be under the age of 18 and over 14.5 according to the Florida DHSMV. You will also need to provide a valid Florida ID card number or the last 5 digits of your social security number to register. 

Can my information be changed after registering?

Yes, If you have only created your account and have not started the test your information can be edited.  However, once you have started the test, we cannot edit any information.  Should you notice that your information is not correct after passing the test, you will need to contact us to make that request and we will have to reach out to the Florida DHSMV to have them make the correction. Please provide your assigned driver license number if you have been given one when making the request for corrections.   To request any changes, please call us at 1-800-558-9887 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

Is there a certificate of completion after passing the test?

No. There is no completion certificate after you pass the exam. The exam results are sent to the Florida DHSMV electronically, so they can see your completion in their computer system when you go to the driver license office. Does a parent or guardian have to proctor the exam?

Yes. Florida regulations require that anyone taking the exam online have a parent or guardian watching during the test. The parent or guardian is required to provide their driver’s license number during the registration process for the exam which holds them responsible for watching as the exam is being taken to assure that not assistance was provided. Your parent or guardian must watch you during the entire test and must not provide you with assistance or allow you to receive assistance. Your parent / guardian will be required to submit his or her name and driver license number before you will be given access to the online test.

Is there a time limit to take the exam?

Yes. There is a 60-minute time limit to complete the test. The test will display the time remaining in the upper right-hand corner as you are answering each question.

How does the test actually work?

Once you start the test, you will be given one question at a time. The test consists of 50 questions. You will keep answering questions until you get 40 correct to pass or 11 wrong to fail. You are given 60 minutes to complete. Once the exam begins you will be given one question at a time. You simply select your submit your answer by clicking the button provided. There is a log at the top of each question that shows the number of correct and wrong answers provided. The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions and you are given 60 minutes to complete. 40 correct answers results in a passed exam. 11 wrong answers results in a failed exam. The exam also requires that you validate your identity throughout. The exam does this by asking 7 identity validation (yes / no) questions throughout that were setup at registration. The answers given to the ID questions in the course must match the answers given at registration. In addition to the test questions, you will also be asked 7 security questions at random during the exam. These are the same (yes/no) questions answered during the registration process. The answers given during the exam must match the answers given during registration. If you answerAnswering 3 security ID questions incorrectly, the exam will be marked as a failurewill result in an exam failure.
If you pass the exam, you will given a completion confirmation page that includes If you successfully pass the test, you will be taken to a confirmation page that provides you with a reference “S” number for the exam and other details. If you have exhausted your 3 attempts the system will notify you of that when re-registering. As you take the test, you will see whether your answer to each question was correct or incorrect. You must get at least 40 of the 50 total questions correct to pass and you will be notified immediately of your result. If you pass, you will see your final score along with a pass notification. If you do not pass, you have up to three total online attempts before you would be required to take the test in person at a Driver License office.

Is my test result reported to the DHSMV?

Yes. There is no completion certificate for the test. What if I have a technical problem during the test?

While rare, unfortunately technical problems can happen. If there is a problem with your internet connection or with your computer, or with the DHSMV system in the middle of an exam, it will be marked as a failed attempt. There is no way around that. Remember that you have up to 3 attempts to pass the exam, so as long as the technical issue doesn’t happen on your third attempt you will have the opportunity to try again.
