How does the exam work?
The Florida Class E Knowledge Exam (a.k.a. Florida learner’s permit test) is 50 multiple choice questions covering the information found in the Florida Driver Handbook, and must be passed before you can apply for a Florida learner’s permit or driver’s license. If you are under the age of 18 and have a valid social security number or alien ID number, you have the option of taking the state exam online through our website, rather than in person at a driver license or tax collector’s office! The online test can be taken 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere you have internet access.
To begin, you will register by creating an account on our site and submit your payment via debit or credit card. Next you can choose if you are ready to take the exam or not. Make sure you have a parent or legal guardian present to observe / proctor you while taking the test. When fully ready, you can start the test. You will be given 60 minutes to answer 40 of the 50 questions correctly to pass, after which your completion will be immediately reported to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). Your completion will be available for lookup at any driver license office. You are allowed up to three attempts online to achieve a passing score before you would be required to go to a driver license or tax collector’s office to try again.

A Florida learner’s permit is required to legally practice driving with the required supervision and with certain restrictions on public roadways. The Class E knowledge exam (a.k.a. Florida learner’s permit test) and the TLSAE drug and alcohol course must be completed successfully before applying for a Florida learner’s permit and both are available here on Ticketschool.com!
Under the age of 18
The State of Florida requires that you get a learner’s permit and log 50 hours of driving (10 hours of which are at night) with required supervision before you can apply for your Class E driver’s license. You must first successfully pass the Class E knowledge exam and the TLSAE drug and alcohol course to apply for your learner’s permit. You are eligible to take the Class E test or TLSAE course if you are at least 14 years old, but you cannot apply for your learner’s permit until you turn 15. The state also requires that you hold your learner’s permit for at least one year before applying for your driver’s license.
Over the age of 18
While not required, it is highly encouraged that you get a learner’s permit and do at least some practice driving with the required supervision before taking the driving skills test and applying for your Florida driver’s license. Passing the Class E knowledge exam and TLSAE course are both still required regardless of whether you decide to apply for a learner’s license or driver’s license. Unfortunately, the Class E knowledge exam cannot be taken with us online and must be taken in person at a driver license or tax collector’s office when you are 18 or older.
