In accordance with Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security requirements, this course must be completed over a minimum of 4 hours. Page timers are included to ensure the required time is met. You may log in and out at your convenience from any internet-enabled device, and your progress will be saved automatically.

Each unit includes a short multiple-choice quiz that must be completed with a passing score of 70% or higher. There is no final exam. This format allows you to complete the quizzes while the material is still fresh in your mind.

After registering for the course, you will receive a login code that allows you to access the course at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The course consists of 6 units, which you may complete at your own pace. You can log out whenever needed, and your progress will be saved automatically so you can resume where you left off. Once you successfully pass the final unit quiz, you will complete the course and receive a certificate of completion available for download and printing. Your course completion will also be electronically reported to GEICO within 24 hours so your discount can be applied.

The course registration offered on this page is available at a special discounted rate exclusively for GEICO auto insurance customers and requires a valid GEICO policy number. If your auto insurance policy is with a different provider, you will need to register through the standard Tennessee course registration process. here

The discount earned for completing a Tennessee defensive driving course remains valid for three (3) years. Once the three-year period expires, you may retake the course to maintain your eligibility for the discount.

The course may be taken by any GEICO-insured individual who is the primary driver on a policy and meets the applicable age requirement. Check here for further eligibility details.

The amount you save will depend on your individual insurance policy. Tennessee mandates a 10% discount on the base rate of the collision and comprehensive portions of your policy.
